CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF [RE]THINKING ARCHITECTURE

THINK

The relationship between architecture and humans forms the core of our research. We use ‘practice’ as ‘research’ to study this relationship architectonically. Often delegated to anthropologists and archeologists, our work emphasizes architecture as a human design-system. It is our position, however, that permanence, which literally translates as ‘remaining through,’ can rightly be claimed as crucial to both the philosophy and practice of architecture. Architecture deserves a detailed study not only as an object, but also as a component participant of an exceedingly expanded place through time. Architecture, along with the humans who cohabitate it, form a larger environment distinct from mere world. Buildings are the object, the stone, brick, mortar: architecture is the place of experience within the larger context of the environment.
