Carbon City Wins Impact Competition Award!

We are so excited to announce that our speculative project to capture and re-utilize carbon won an Honorable Mention & Top 10 Award for the Impact Skylines Competition! CARBON CITY was one of ten projects to receive an honorable mention, out of over 700 entries. Juried by Director of Zaha Hadid Architects, Chris Lepipne, Director of MVRDV, Gideon Maasland, and Director of OMA UK, Carol Patterson, our proposal vitally pushed the limits of design and sustainable uses. Congratulations to the entire MKC team who worked on this project.

CARBON CITY is a multi-use super-structure skyrise located on the Dongjak Bridge in Seoul, Korea. A vertical city, the project’s goal is to intake, process, and store Carbon as a means of improving air and water quality.

Both monolithic and robust, the form pays homage to its adjacent sisters: YTN & Lotte Tower. What was once mere architectural form is transformed into climate-rejuvenating superstructures aimed at reversing climate change.
