JENNIFER RUFENER | Project Designer

Meet Jennifer

Jennifer joined the team at MKC Architects first as an animator in 2021, and has since become Project Designer. Jennifer graduated from Kent State University College of Architecture and Environmental Design with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, where she won the Merit Award for her Integrated Systems Design project titled “PGH Technology Innovation Center”. She then attended Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative where she received her M.Arch. There she worked on a publication called “River, Nahr, Rio”, and then received an AIA Honor Award in the Student Category for her project “Breaking Barriers”, a project dealing with mental health and homelessness in the urban environment. Jennifer then attended SCI-Arc in Los Angeles for a Master of Science in Architectural Technologies, where she researched fabrication, robotics/automation, animation, artificial intelligence, coding, and sustainable energy technologies.

 

Post graduation, Jennifer taught architectural studio & theory, as well as computer technologies courses at Kent State’s CAED, while also working as a designer and animator for architecture firms. She also has worked on design competitions and art installations with her partner Max Hentosh as part of their art studio; together, they designed and built an art installation for Ingenuity Cleveland and Brite Winter Festival called “Sense”. In her free time, Jennifer also enjoys reading, tending to her plants, and making art and jewelry.
